Mantra - A Guide to Meditation
“Like a thread drawn by a needle, the Mantra will penetrate the fabric of your mind, to lead your consciousness to the divine. All obstacles will be surpassed and you will come to rest in your own true nature of infinite peace.â€
Meditation offers specific techniques in Self-Awareness and Self-Analysis, to access that deep well-spring of peace inherent within each and every one of us. To dwell in absolute peace is our natural birth right, but we are prevented from doing so due to the unruly condition of our own mind.
Meditation is a natural state of consciousness that isn’t “learned†any more than you learn to sleep. When the mind becomes one-pointed and steady, it will naturally go beyond normal mundane awareness, into the state referred to as meditation. Mantra is the key to this.
The first step of meditation, begins with becoming accustomed to the function of our mind, since to get the best out of any instrument, one must first know how it works. Our mental states are frequently scattered, agitated and in disarray. The mind is subject to varying waves of concern, irritability, stress, hope, sadness and fleeting joy. Mantra-meditation provides the mind with a steady point of concentration to calm these fluctuating states, not only during meditation but also in daily life
The literal translation of the word MANTRA is this: Man means mind and Tra means liberation. Repetition of a Mantra is a potent concentration technique to liberate the mind from fluctuating states of unhappiness and to guide our consciousness towards the source of ultimate serenity.
The vibrational energy of the Sanskrit Mantra, as given by a genuine meditation master, is tuned with the universal source of peace. The great saints, yogis and spiritual leaders of yester-year, practiced and perfected Mantras and Prayers, before conveying them to humanity for the welfare of all beings.
Mantra is spoken in the ancient language of Sanskrit. The spiritual masters of India and Tibet consider this language divine, because of its vibrational energy. Sanskrit mantras provide the opportunity to establish a connection with the highest spiritual energies of the universe, enabling ultimate peace to settle withins ones own heart and mind.
Mantra is given by a spiritual master, who hails from a spiritual lineage. It is given in a spiritual ceremony called Mantra Diksha, which is a very auspicious occasion. In this ceremony, the spiritual master (the Guru) makes a life long commitment to guide the soul of the new meditation aspirant. In turn, the aspirant remains life-long devoted to the teachings of the master, and practices the meditation mantra with faith. Throughout all life’s twist and turns, the spiritual master provides simple and practical guidance. Regardless of whether on is in physical proximity to the master, or far, it is through the universal potency of the Mantra that guidance is received. In this light, Mantra is truly a great blessing for life.
The spiritual master, the Guru, is like the radiant sun. All spiritual paths revere that experienced master, who dispels ignorance and suffering, and gives us inspiration and wisdom. Gu means darkness and Ru means light. Dwelling within the incarnation of the Guru, is infinite wisdom and knowledge of the Divine. Such a master has the ability to kindle this knowledge in the hearts of others through Mantra.
Great discussion! You’ve got a good blog going here.
is mantra, is like a prayer?
Yes, you could say that Mantra is like prayer as it connects the spiritual aspirant to the Divine Consciousness through the practice of mantra repetition and Prayer also connects us to the Divine.
